Access Cloud Desktop from a web browser

Connect to Cloud Desktop from any supported web browser

The Remote Desktop Web client allows you to connect to the Cloud Desktop, granting access to your desktops and applications directly from a web browser without the need to install a separate client. In this guide, we'll show you how to connect to Azure Virtual Desktop, the foundation for Cloud Desktop, from the Remote Desktop web client.

Prerequisites

Before you can access your resources, ensure you meet the following prerequisites:

  1. Internet access: You need a stable internet connection.

  2. Supported web browser: While any HTML5-capable web browser should work, Microsoft officially supports the following web browsers and operating systems:

    • Microsoft Edge: Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS (Version 79 or later)

    • Google Chrome: Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS (Version 57 or later)

    • Apple Safari: macOS (Version 11 or later)

    • Mozilla Firefox: Windows, macOS, Linux (Version 55 or later)

Note: The Remote Desktop Web client does not support mobile web browsers.

Accessing Your Resources

Follow these steps to access your Azure Virtual Desktop resources using the Remote Desktop Web client:

  1. Open your web browser on your computer. You may be using one to read this page now.

  2. Go to the following URL:

  3. Sign in with your user account. Once you've successfully signed in, you'll see your workspaces containing the desktops and applications made available to you by your administrator.

  4. Select one of the icons to launch a session to Azure Virtual Desktop. Depending on your organization's configuration, you may be prompted to enter your user account password again.

  5. A prompt for "Access local resources" may appear, asking you to confirm which local resources you want to make available in the remote session. Make your selection, then select "Allow."

Tip: If you've signed in to the web browser with a different Microsoft account than the one you want to use for Azure Virtual Desktop, consider signing out or using a private browser window.
